Goal Setting and New Year’s Resolutions

‘Tis the season to be jolly… and make New Year’s Resolutions.

The new year is regarded as a fresh start, as an excellent time to make resolutions and set goals.

Will you resolve to..

  • lose weight?
  • stop smoking?
  • be a better parent?
  • be a better spouse?
  • get that home repair project done?
  • clean out the junk in the attic? the garage?
  • OR will you resolve to…

  • raise your self esteem and feel better about yourself?
  • stop procrastinating?
  • The most important thing to remember about setting goals is to have realistic expectations. If your goal is to lose 40 pounds, don’t be disappointed when you don’t lose all the weight the first month of your new diet.

Break it down into small steps to take. Focus on the process rather than the end result.

In this example, focus on keeping to the diet for each meal. Let the diet become the habit. The weight will come off.

When you focus on the process, one step at a time, the results will take care of themselves.
